2023 - what's on your plate?

Tom Davenport in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the MIT CDOIQ Program recently published the results of a survey conducted with 250 CDOs combined with the output of 25 interviews to assess what are their priorities for FY2023. I thought it was a great read and wanted to share it further with our targeted audience.

To read the survey results: CDO Agenda 2023: Prioritizing Business Value Creation

My top 3 takeaways from the publication:

  1. The results are still very much consistent with the priorities of CDOs in the past 5 or even 10 years which means that the industry is still very slow to adopt the concept that Data is their most valuable Asset

  2. Confusion over the responsibility of data is still prominent - between heads of business, operations, finance, technology and the CDO - one would think that after two decades of debates, we would get it right?

  3. Data Governance is still an area of top priority that no one wants to tackle hence why #1 and #2 are not making enough headway IRL

If you encounter any of these challenges and others that are listed in the survey results then let's talk.
